2014 Holiday Update

2014 was an exciting year for the Hoole family. After 8 amazing years in Dorchester we sold our condo and moved back to our hometown of Littleton, MA. So far it has been a pleasant change, though that’s not to say it didn’t take some getting used to. We no longer hear ambulances, police sirens, and airplanes flying overhead, but it can be a challenge to order a pizza after 9pm. Instead of dodging traffic, there are wild turkeys, deer, and even the occasional black bear crossing the roads. That being said, it’s been great being closer to our families. Carsyn especially loves playing with her cousins and her newly inherited pets; Sammy, Kevin, and Bauer.

Even though Carsyn’s 1st birthday was back in January it seems like she changed from a baby to a toddler in the blink of an eye. She has a great sense of adventure and loves running, jumping, and climbing all over the place. In fact, last week was Carsyn’s first ride on a sled, and I am hoping to get her on skis by the end of the season, assuming I can get my wife on board with the idea. Carsyn is beginning to ask a lot of questions, perhaps because her new favorite show is Curious George. She’s starting to become independent and does a lot of exploring, particularly when we’re out in stores or restaurants. This leads to a lot of chasing around, but on the bright side we’ve gotten to meet a lot of nice people in the process.

Last week we had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner up at the Hoole family lake house.  It was great to relax and spend time with our family, although with the cable out, and no football, it didn’t leave us much of a choice. The only somber note on the day was the passing of our beloved Aunt Nancy on Thanksgiving morning. She fought a long, hard battle with pancreatic cancer. But despite her tremendous courage and bravery, she could not overcome the disease. We are thankful to everyone for all their love and support and we wish the best for her family.

My family and I have seen a lot of changes this past year and we are looking forward to the adventures that 2015 will bring us. We hope you all have a great holiday season and a happy new year!

Still trying to figure out what to get your husband, wife, kids, or grandkids for the holidays? Why not give a gift that keeps on giving? A Financial “Snapshot” Review is a great gift for anyone who is;

  • Going through live changing events (moving, marriage, children, retirement, divorce)
  • Wondering if they are saving enough for retirement or their children’s education
  • Interested in knowing the best strategies to eliminate credit card, student loans, and other consumer debt

A Financial Review consists of a two-hour review of up to three financial planning topics of your choice. While there are no follow-up services provided, this meeting often gives clients the peace of mind they are looking for and helps to steer them in the right direction. And in the event you want ongoing support after the Financial Review, you have the option of applying the fee paid for the Financial Review towards an Open Retainer agreement.

In the spirit of the holidays, Lakeside Financial Planning is offering all Financial Reviews for just $500 (regularly $800) from now until the end of the year. Please contact us today if you are interested in purchasing one or would like more information.
